The location of Dos Vinhaticos was spectacular and the room we stayed in (Number 3) was large and comfortable. The staff were most friendly, courteous and very willing to help;their English, especially the Manager, was excellent. The food was very good with a wide range of choice. This little hotel was not crowded and made a first class centre from which to explore by driving and walking in the mountains of Madeira.

Staff was fabulous and the surroundings were beautiful. Food served there was good as well.
VERY, VERY hard to find. Need better markings to get there. Also, no air conditioning and was warned not to open the windows due to mosquitos, thus, did not get a good night's sleep, very miserable.

I had a wonderful stay at this mountain hotel! The location was absolutely stunning, surrounded by breathtaking views of the mountains. The room in the log cabin was cozy and comfortable, with all the amenities I needed for a luxurious stay. The staff were friendly, hospitable, and always went above and beyond to ensure I had a great experience. The meals prepared by the chef were absolutely delicious - I still dream about the Banana Curry! this place provided enhanced comfort and quality services.
I highly recommend this hotel to families looking for a luxurious and comfortable stay in the mountains.

very quiet and in the middle of nature
a lot of lizards, sometimes in the room! Keep the windows closed.

We loved the location and the view of the mountain from our cosy wooden chalet room. The restaurant had lovely views too and the food for breakfast and dinner was good quality and well presented.
The 'welcome' was unfriendly and unwelcoming.

The view from the hotel was amazing and the breakfast had a lot of options. The staff was helpful and accommodating. The location was also convenient for hiking in the nearby mountains.
The decor of the hotel was outdated and tired. The carpets and walls could use an update.

The views from the rooms were breathtaking and offered a true taste of nature. the staff were very friendly and accommodating, making our stay even more enjoyable. the location was also ideal, offering easy access to plenty of walking trails and outdoor activities.
The lack of modern amenities in the rooms, which could do with an update. the restaurant options were a bit limited and the food could have been better.

One of a kind place with cosy, but elegant atmosphere. Professional and very friendly staff, great restaurant. Wonderful views of the mountains and the sea from the restaurant and the rooms. Location only a short drive from many Madeira's towns and attractions.
Very poor soundproofing of the rooms, you can hear every step and sound in the neighbouring rooms, which is especially disturbing if you live on the groundfloor.

A wonderful place to be for walkers. Great service. Great food. Really helpful receptionist/manager. The small group of hotel staff took on all duties - good team working.
In the log cabin rooms you can hear activity in rooms to either side and above. Its not a big deal for campers like me but people should be aware in case they are more sensitive.

Poor sound insulation between rooms in wooden chalet.

Friendly people. Central location in Madeira. Good breakfast.
No refrigerator and no air conditioning in the room. Musty room. No balcony. Not a nice place to sit outside. Outside seating was not lit. We don't recommend this hotel for people who like a little bit luxury.

The warm and kind reception, the stunning mountain landscape and vistas from room and breakfast/diningroom, the beautiful gardens, the good food, the cosy atmosphere in the main building contrib uted to a lot of positive feelings.
We did not quite appreciate the fact that the lower floor logcabin (in itself a cosy and special place with terrific views) had bad single beds, several technical faults (loose showerhead, electrical outlet without cover) and that we could literally hear our upper floor neighbours talking and moving around early morning and late evening. The wooden upper floor allows all sounds of movements and talks in the upper floor to be heard in the lower cabins. A pity since for most other aspects Vinhaticos is really a special place with very kind staff doing what they could to make us feel welcome. So, recommended if you are a sound sleeper regardless of what happens around you.
